ABOUT

Brent Johnston

Brent Johnston was set on the course to become a Life Coach from a very early age. Life Track Coaching continues that life long vision. Johnston recounts, “I remember my mother telling me that at a young age, I would ask her deep questions about life, I was concerned about the plights in the world, about people in pain, and about good and evil.”

A strong memory from Brent’s childhood centers on some of his lower school and junior high classmates who were shy, socially awkward, and sometimes picked on. Johnston remembers speaking up for those particular children and coming to their aid. “I would stand up for them and try to make them feel better by befriending them,” Brent says.

“I also believe there is a part in all of us that can identify with the underdog. Whether it’s because we ourselves have had insecurities or have ourselves come to the aid of someone overlooked or slighted, there are a few of us who cannot identify with the underdog.”

When Brent was in high school, he has fond memories of his track coach Bubba Cox. Coach Cox was more than the Head Coach on the track and field at Jackson Academy. He was a coach in life. Through his inspiring prose poetry and relentless long runs with his track team through the hills of Eastover, Coach Cox had much to say about virtue, character, strength, competitiveness, will, winning, overcoming weakness and many other values of life that guide Brent to this day. Bubba was also best friends with Coach Ray Higgins who has his own legacy. Cox led his track team to a State Championship and later went on to an outstanding sales career with Word Publishing, but he sadly died much too young of cancer. However, Coach Cox’s legacy serves as an Inspiration for Brent as a Life Coach today.

“We may not know how long we have on the Earth, but we know what it means to live a life fulfilled in a life of purpose. Coach Cox lived each day as if it were his last and because his time was cut short, his impact is that much greater on me because I realize now that he was approaching each day as a gift – a chance to make a lasting impression on someone for the good.”

Upon graduating from college, Johnston pursued a calling in vocational ministry for the next 10 years. This led to experience and work in student ministry in church and camp settings and a Masters of Arts Degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth.

                      Dr. Scott Floyd

“Dr. Scott Floyd, Professor of Psychology at Southwestern Seminary had a profound influence on my life and career. Dr. Floyd strongly encouraged me towards continuing my studies in psychology and counseling. Dr. Floyd counseled many people in times of need, including those devastated by the shootings at Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He coached me and guided me towards a path that would change my life forever and would ultimately allow me to encourage countless youth and adults across the U.S. and world for decades to come.” Floyd not only taught at Southwestern Seminary for decades, but also is an author and speaker.

Brent continued his ministry in Christian Counseling and earned a second graduate degree with a Masters of Science in Marital and Family Therapy in the School of Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California and later moved to Nashville.

As Johnston navigated into the world of marketing and business, he found himself again leading Bible Studies for youth, speaking at events, and mentoring people in his life. This focus guided Johnston into Life Coaching where he trained and became certified as a Life Coach through the American Association of Christian Counselors and Light University thus bridging his knowledge and experience in ministry and counseling with coaching and mentoring. For those seeking to improve their present and future lives and to better themselves personally and professionally, Brent has a word of encouragement for you – “The best you is yet to come.”
